About the role
SPECIAL EDUCATION REGIONAL LEAD
The Opportunity: This SPED Regional Lead position was created to facilitate communication in the schools among general and special educators, vendor partners and administrators. The regional lead also serves as a liaison to the National Team and is in direct contact with the SPED Manager for their region and/or the Special Populations Director.
LOCATION: Montgomery, AL, or within a 40-mile radius
Key Deliverables:
- Supports PLA’s National SPED Division’s efforts to adhere to SPED federal and state mandates and guidelines
- Works within the region to oversee and enforce PLA’s National SPED Division’s Standards of Compliance
- Develops positive and supportive relationships with SPED teachers, building leadership, vendors and staff
- Directly supports the SPED and 504 POC at the building level
- Attend every I-Team Meeting at each campus
- Serve as the district LEA for IEP meetings when needed
- Partners with the instructional specialist to improve instruction for SWD
- Provides building leaders with support for implementing the PLA Coaching Cycle process for special education staff
- Leads data-driven conversations about scholars with disabilities (SWD) and scholars presented during bi-weekly Interdisciplinary Team meetings
- Ensures testing accommodations are accurate and appropriate for SWD for state and school-based assessments
- Ensures SWD are receiving their services and support in accordance with their IEP and 504
- Provides guidance, leadership, and support to SPED teachers, service providers and 504 Coordinators
- Assist with the preparation of data collection for SWD and scholars with 504s
- Caseload List/assignment organization
Experience and Education Requirement
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university; Master’s Degree preferred
- Valid state teaching license
- Valid special education certification/credentials

Compensation and benefits: A base salary competitively aligned to the market.
