Requirements
The Principal & Transformative Gift (P&T) Operations program at Georgetown University’s Office of Advancement (OA) is a centralized program which acts as the primary operational project manager, coordination point, and strategic partner for front-line fundraising colleagues and advances prospective donor strategies where the donor has the capacity to make principal ($5M+) and transformative ($10M+) gifts. Closely partnering with colleagues across both OA and the university, this team, led by the Senior Director, P&T Gift Operations, will help to shepherd the highest-level prospects and gifts solicited by a high performing team of front-line fundraising team from cultivation to stewardship. Georgetown is in the public phase of the university’s most ambitious fundraising campaign to date - Called to Be - which has a $3 billion goal and the ambition to receive roughly half of those donations from P&T donors. OA exists to support the mission and strategic ambitions of Georgetown University with an engagement-driven approach to fundraising. The Senior Director, P&T Gift Operations position will serve as the central node for P&T donor strategies ensuring all parties involved have the right information and resources to facilitate gifts for the university. This position requires strong communication and demonstrated project management skills, an ability and natural inclination to work collaboratively and build effective relationships with multiple stakeholders, and an ability to define and drive action towards advancing clear next steps and facilitate decision-making among leadership and colleagues. In addition to strong operational and logistical skills, the Senior Director will also serve as a creative and strategic thought partner with colleagues, with an eye towards moving gifts and/or prospects through the pipeline. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Program Oversight
In partnership with the DATA and Business Operations and Campaign Planning teams, track, coordinate, and monitor work related to P&T gift conversations and the pipeline.
Collaborate with Donor Engagement and Development teams to ensure the appropriate engagement of P&T level prospects and donors.
Partner with individual Development Officers to facilitate donor relationships by easing some of the internal barriers for solicitation, enabling the DO to advance gift conversations with their donors and potential donors.
Work closely with appropriate teams (Development, DATA, Business Operations, Strategic Initiatives) to assist in driving and tracking related P&T next steps as well as internal logistics.
In partnership with DATA team members, present and track information related to the P&T engagement and pipeline to OA leadership.
Support utilization and adoption of university-wide GU360 pipeline and portfolio infrastructure.
Operations Team Management
Manage the P&T Operations budget and annual strategic planning for the team.
Manage the direct report(s) by assigning and providing direction on tasks and work to complete, communicating key deadlines and when needed, what work to prioritize, and by communicating the value, purpose, and business impact of their specific responsibilities and position as well as that of the wider team.
Manages performance of direct report(s) fairly and consistently by setting and communicating clear and manageable goals and expectations for performance standards; Create, measure, and track progress against key performance indicators and provides timely and specific feedback on performance against these indicators.
Provide accurate, effective, timely, and consistent feedback and coaching to create a high performing and reliable team member(s), fully engaging in the annual goal setting and performance review process and completion of a formal performance review for direct report(s).
