Senior Accountant – Chicago, IL
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Global Corporate Center Controllership team in Chicago, IL. This role involves managing month end close tasks, preparing and reviewing reconciliations, and supporting regional and global team in month end close.
The ideal candidate will excel in core accounting skills, attention to detail, communication skills, and can work independently while collaborating effectively. We are looking for a self-starter who excels in a fast-paced global environment. This role will report to the Global Corporate Center Senior Manager.
Responsibilities -
Our Senior Accountant performs a variety of professional level accounting duties involved in preparing, reconciling, maintaining, and analyzing financial transactions, statements, and reports. Key responsibilities are as follows:
Participate in month-end close activities, including posting journal entries, preparation of account reconciliations, processing consolidation and elimination entries, and publishing month-end close instructions
Record month-end journal entries and provide support for monthly and quarterly financial statement analysis as needed
Perform complex cash and other balance sheet account reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner, escalating issues as necessary
Assist in managing and reviewing work of JBS India Team that supports Corporate Center team
Ensure intercompany cost recharges are approved in a timely manner and process journal entries as requested by Functional Teams
Calculate monthly stock compensation vesting and process intercompany transactions to the appropriate country office
Support preparation and issuance of financial statements for SEC filings
Assist with SOX compliance and financial statement audits by walking through key controls, providing audit schedules, and answering auditor questions
Coordinate and collaborate effectively with Corporate Segment, Regional and Global JLL teams
Qualifications -
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
- 3 years accounting experience required
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet applications required; experience with PeopleSoft, Oracle ARCS, OneStream, and AI tools a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated consistency in values, principles, and work ethic
- Ability to work independently and within a team to build relationships and interact effectively with other teams
- Ability to multi-task, work successfully under pressure, and effectively prioritize and manage time and workload to meet team needs
- Strong attention to detail and proficient time management, ability to multi-task and the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to take on new challenges, responsibilities, and assignments
- Understanding of and commitment to internal and external service
- A desire to work within a diverse, collaborative, and driven professional environment
