What We're Looking For

Our North Florida CEI Team is looking for a Sr. Inspector with Roadway and Bridge experience to join an existing team in District 2 working out of Gainesville on current long term projects. Future work pursuits to be in Ocala, Gainesville and Lake City. Candidates with Gainesville and Lake City Construction preferred.

This opportunity entails being responsible for providing daily inspection of multiple, complex activities within a given discipline/trade performed by the contractor in order to monitor the project compliance with plans, specifications and other contract provisions. Maintains daily logs of inspection work which is assigned and reviews discrepancies or changes with Field Engineer. Performs non-routine and moderately complex assignments normally related to multiple and/or medium to large projects.

What You'll Do:

• Inspects, observes, documents, and verifies work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with project schedule, contract documents, and plans. Confirms procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications.
• Utilizes engineering inspection practices to perform complicated mathematical calculations and measurements of completed work to date.
• Maintains Inspector's daily report of assigned work activities, contactor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified.
• Performs on-site material testing and produces as-constructed sketches as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and 6 years of construction related experience.
• All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements

What You'll Bring:

• Previous FDOT inspection experience.

• Coordinate with contractors’ staff, communicate effectively with all parties and good interpersonal skills

• Verify the implementation of contract documents

• Produce thorough inspection reports and maintain detailed records of work performed

• Prepare and monitor internal HNTB project controls for field personnel

• Produce and maintain quantity tracking logs, punch lists, and other inspection documents.

• Proactively recognize complex construction or engineering problems and bring to resolution with contractor

• Apply standard testing techniques and procedures for the verification of material

What We Prefer:

• Driver’s License

• Proficient use of Microsoft Word and Excel

• Experience working on FDOT projects preferred (Gainesville and Lake City Construction Experience preferred)

• Working knowledge of FDOT Road and Bridge Specifications and Standard Plans

• Able to read and interpret complex plans, specifications, and shop drawings

• Able willing to work a shift schedule and/or flexible schedules as required to support the workload.

• Manage the team of inspectors, coordinate their schedules, and oversee their work and records

• Able to lift 25lbs

• Ability to multitask
