Software Engineer – Software Foundations (Onsite)

The Software Foundations team partners with engineering, other functions, and the strategic business units/centers to provide the software development community with practical processes, templates, and metrics to enable efficient program execution, predictability, and continuous improvement.  The team works hand in hand with the Department Leaders and programs to foster Agile & DevSecOps process discipline, establish best practices and healthy program execution. The team also serves as a modernization liaison between other disciplines and functions (Cyber Security (GSS), Digital Technologies (DT), etc) to promote communication, cross business collaboration, knowledge sharing and alignment to organizational objectives.

What You Will Do

  • Development, deployment, and maintenance of process command media instructions and enablers, discipline metrics, and collaboration with other engineering and discipline leaders on improvement projects and initiatives.
  • Communicate recommended approaches, constraints and rational for strategy development and implementation for command media, metrics, and cost estimation
  • Support the Software Modernization Center and Engagement Leads to drive adoption of best practices and deployment of software, Agile, & DevSecOps innovation across the organization
  • Individually contribute to innovation and high performing teams to help Raytheon become a world-class software development organization

Qualifications You Must Have  

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 10 years of prior engineering experience.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies – preferably as Scrum Master or Product Owner
  • Experience developing and testing deliverable software for government customers
  • Experience with automated test and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with the application of program execution metrics
  • Experience performing software engineering cost estimation

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Demonstrated interest and success in improving software engineering execution
  • Experience as a Software Lead and/or Software Functional Manager
  • Experience Leading improvement projects with Raytheon CORE or R6S
  • Exceptional analytical abilities, critical thinking, and creative problem solving
  • Practical knowledge of software development lifecycle models
  • Proven written and oral communication skills
  • Able to work effectively at all levels in an organization
  • Demonstrated ability to work multiple tasks and priorities, and to complete simultaneous assignments with high quality and timely products
