We are seeking a part-time Bookkeeper to work in our New York, NY tax office. Part-time hours will expand annually during the busy tax season from January through April. The hourly rate for this position is $20 - $34 per hour.
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Prepare a variety of tax returns including individual, partnership, corporate, and fiduciary returns.
2. Prepare quarterly payroll tax filings, including multi-state unemployment returns and monthly 941 tax deposits on behalf of clients.
3. Perform annual corporate client write-ups in conjunction with corporate tax return preparation.
4. Conduct monthly bank reconciliations for client payroll accounts.
5. Prepare year-end tax documents, including Forms 1099 and W-2.
6. Perform other duties as assigned by the Tax Branch Manager.
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
1. Minimum of three years of experience in payroll and bookkeeping services.
2. At least one year of experience using UltraTax CS and Fixed Assets CS software.
3. Proven experience interacting with clients and the ability to clearly explain accounting and tax-related matters.
4. Solid knowledge of payroll tax laws, payroll processes, and relevant regulations.
5. Strong attention to detail with the ability to apply rules and make sound analytical decisions.
6. Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of meeting deadlines in a fast-paced tax and accounting environment.
