Senior Data Scientist

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will play a critical role in driving data-driven decision-making and developing advanced analytical solutions to solve real-world data challenges and gain hands-on experience in data analysis and statistical modeling. </p> <p><strong>Role &amp; Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul><li>Develop and implement cutting-edge data science methodologies and algorithms to extract meaningful insights from large, complex datasets.</li><li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business problems, define objectives, and design data-driven solutions that address strategic goals.</li><li>Lead end-to-end data science projects, from data exploration and preprocessing to model development, validation, and deployment.</li><li>Create and maintain visualizations for business users.</li><li>Apply advanced statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms to build predictive models and optimize key business metrics.</li><li>Conduct thorough exploratory data analysis to uncover hidden patterns, trends, and correlations that can drive actionable insights and support decision-making.</li><li>Design and execute rigorous experiments to test hypotheses and evaluate model performance, ensuring statistical rigor and accuracy in results.</li><li>Mentor and guide junior data scientists, providing technical leadership and fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.</li><li>Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and industry best practices, and apply them to enhance the team's capabilities and effectiveness.</li><li>Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner, translating complex concepts into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.</li><li>Collaborate with data engineers and IT teams to ensure effective data collection, storage, and integration, while ensuring data quality and integrity.</li></ul> <p><strong>Job Requirements:</strong></p> <ul><li>Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.</li><li>Proven track record of 5+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, and statistical modeling, preferably in a commercial or industry setting.</li><li>Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with Python and SQL programming languages, as well as data manipulation and analysis libraries (e.g., NumPy, Pandas).</li><li>Demonstrated expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and predictive analytics techniques.</li><li>Proficiency in data visualization tools and techniques to effectively communicate complex insights and results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.</li><li>Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and analytically to tackle complex business challenges.</li><li>Experience with big data technologies and frameworks (e.g. Google BigQuery, Airflow) as well as visualization tools (Looker, Tableau, Power BI) are highly desirable.</li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and influence decision-making at all levels of the organization.</li><li>Strong leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and guide junior team members, foster a culture of innovation, and drive results.</li><li>Solid understanding of software development principles and agile methodologies is a plus.</li></ul> <p><strong>Diversity and Inclusion: </strong></p> <p>At Opera diversity and inclusion are central to our values.
