The Vice President, Underwriting Marketing will define a marketing strategy and roadmap for Verisk Underwriting.

Leading the go-to-market function for Verisk Underwriting, you will shape how we take our solutions to market – how we position, sell, and develop. You are responsible for defining the strategy that will be critical to creating and maintaining Verisk’s competitive advantage, delivering marketing solutions that create significant value for customers, anticipating future opportunities, and driving continued market leadership and growth for Verisk.

The role requires a deep understanding of markets and customers to devise and lead strategy with excellent leadership and project management skills. This individual will have a proven track record developing strategic marketing plans and campaigns that deliver marketing solutions to stakeholders across underwriting solutions and products to meet revenue goals.

The position plays a critical role in modernizing marketing for Verisk and reports to the Chief Marketing Officer and will be a trusted partner and advisor to senior leaders. The role is based in New York (Jersey City, NJ) with a hybrid work schedule, a minimum of 3 days in-office/week. Travel up to 20% of the time to connect with geographically dispersed marketing team, business stakeholders and clients.   

Job Responsibilities

This individual will have excellent marketing skills and business acumen to understand the business and propose multi-touch, multi-dimensional programs including both inbound and outbound tactics to drive Verisk awareness and perception, meet business goals, and equip sales team to win.

  • Business Results – propose, gain agreement and deliver marketing plan that leads to improved Verisk Underwriting positioning in the market.
  • Innovation - define market requirements for underwriting solutions using customers’ needs, market dynamics, industry trends and the competitive landscape as inputs.
  • Messaging - develop positioning and messaging that differentiates Verisk and resonates with buyers, highlighting business value, impact, and ROI.
  • Content - partner with marketing and sales to ensure compelling content is developed that reinforces offering positioning and messaging.
  • Sales enablement – work with the sales team to deliver compelling marketing campaigns in support of current solutions and new offering launches. Proactively engage work with marketing and client facing teams to coordinate, communicate, and optimize the impact of marketing activities.
  • Thought Leadership - influence industry analysts, media, and customers to share Verisk’s vision for the market and our solutions.
  • Leadership - player-coach leading a team of 10+ integrated marketers and skilled at working across multi-faceted marketing and business team. Develops each team member to maximize their potential.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • BA in marketing, communications, or related field.
  • 12+ years of strategic marketing and/or marketing/product/technology management experience
  • Demonstrated success with marketing strategy development and implementation across multiple channels.
  • Clear understanding of the digital marketing landscape: marketing automation; demand generation; personalization; sales enablement/effectiveness; attribution reporting; campaign management
  • Skilled at writing and socializing product-level documents: marketing plan, sales enablement plan, launch plan, solution handbook
  • Successful track-record of cross-functional collaboration with teams, contributors, and stakeholders across multiple seniority levels
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical and business problem-solving skills, including financial analysis, ROI analysis, and customer segmentation.
  • Data-driven and results-oriented, with a perspective on how to measure and evaluate metrics for pre and post product launch, and define and measure metrics to measure the impact of marketing efforts
  • Ability to rapidly prioritize and react to
