The Hebeler Group of Companies recently joined the Carrier Process Equipment Group (CPEG), based out of Louisville, Kentucky with locations across the globe. Now referred to as CPEG (or CPEG Buffalo internally), our business delivers highly engineered industrial equipment, from modular high-availability systems to bespoke and custom one-off solutions.

At our Tonawanda, NY location, we are currently seeking a full-time HR Generalist to join our team. This position has opened due to a valued team member pursuing a leadership opportunity outside the organization, and we are now seeking the next great fit to build upon the strong foundation they have helped establish. The ideal candidate will be adaptable to shifting priorities, value teamwork, and be equally comfortable working independently to drive both team and organizational goals forward. The HR Generalist provides on-site support to employees and works in close partnership with the corporate HR located in Louisville, KY. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of the employee life cycle, including onboarding, performance management, and offboarding. It also oversees the administration of benefits and leave programs and ensures the consistent application of company policies and procedures. The HR Generalist plays a vital role in maintaining a positive workplace culture and supporting the smooth operation of daily HR functions.
Responsibilities
- Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applications for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Maintains accuracy and integrity of ATS and develops reports as necessary for EEO, AAP and other required purposes.
- Handles onboarding and performs new employee orientation to deliver an exceptional early experience.
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Assists in the development of personnel policies and procedures and maintain the employee handbooks.
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; and training and development.
- Manages/assists with leave and paid time off programs in the HR systems, such as PTO, PFL, FMLA, bereavement and other leaves of absence including workers compensation.
- Responsible for the maintenance of Incident Reports including OSHA 300 reporting.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Additional Responsibilities
- Provides support to managers and employees with timecards and PTO for weekly payroll processing through Paylocity.
- Serves as backup payroll reviewer when needed.
- Attends recruiting events as needed.
- Prepares reports as requested.
- Performs other HR duties as assigned.
- Travels to our other nearby locations to provide HR support on occasion, if needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
