Position Summary

The Clinical Education Program Manager serves as the operational and strategic lead for onboarding, preceptor development, and continuing education across Home Health and Hospice. This role ensures every clinician's learning journey, from day one through ongoing professional growth, is structured, consistent, and aligned with Compassus' commitment to clinical excellence and compassionate care.

Working collaboratively with the Clinical Education, Quality, and People Experience teams, this position builds the framework that supports clinical readiness, enhances workforce retention, and advances patient outcomes. The Clinical Education Program Manager combines program design, education delivery, and data-driven evaluation to foster confident, competent, and engaged clinicians throughout their career lifecycle.


Position Specific Responsibilities

  • Program Development and Oversight
    • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Compassus Clinical Education Framework, encompassing onboarding, preceptorship, and continuing education.
    • Partner with Clinical Educators, Instructional Designers, and operational leaders to standardize content and learning pathways across service lines.
    • Define and maintain the structure for onboarding phases: administrative, clinical education, preceptorship, and ongoing development.
    • Oversee the Preceptor Program, including role criteria, selection, training, recognition, and evaluation tools.
    • Develop scalable transition-to-practice programs for new nurses and clinicians entering post-acute care.
    • Ensure all education materials meet internal quality standards, compliance expectations, and accreditation requirements (CMS, CHAP, etc.).
    • Monitor version control and collaborate with Compliance to align learning content with evolving regulations and best practices.
     
    • Content Creation and Facilitation
    • Author and maintain learning modules, toolkits, workshops, and microlearning experiences that reinforce Compassus' standards of care and professional practice.
    • Facilitate live and virtual training sessions focused on onboarding, clinical skill development, documentation excellence, and care delivery principles.
    • Develop facilitator guides, checklists, and self-paced learning resources for preceptors and educators in the field.
    • Collaborate with Clinical Educators to integrate content seamlessly into the LMS and learning ecosystem.
    • Maintain a central repository of all clinical onboarding and continuing education resources.
     
    • Preceptor and Clinician Engagement
    • Deliver ongoing development sessions to enhance preceptor effectiveness in coaching, feedback, and clinical instruction.
    • Foster a culture of continuous learning through communities of practice, virtual forums, and recognition events.
    • Partner with the People Experience team and operational leaders to ensure appropriate preceptor assignments and onboarding capacity.
    • Lead strategies for preceptor recognition, retention, and professional development.
     
    • Evaluation and Continuous Improvement
    • Use analytics and feedback tools to measure outcomes related to retention, readiness, competency validation, and engagement.
    • Conduct ongoing needs assessments to identify gaps in clinical onboarding, education content, or preceptor preparation.
    • Benchmark Compassus' programs against national standards in nursing professional development and clinical education.
    • Present outcome reports and recommendations to leadership to guide strategic improvements.

Education and/or Experience

  • Required - Bachelors Degree, Nursing (BSN)
  • Preferred - Masters Degree, Nursing, Education or related
  • Required - Minimum five (5) years of clinical experience in Home Health and/or Hospice


Skills

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, team members, investors, and external parties. Strong written and verbal communications.
