Job Description

  • Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. No sponsorship or work transfers are available for this position

Development Tech Leads contribute towards the overall data integration architecture and design of multi-terabyte marketing solutions that integrate and optimize our client's data across numerous sources. Merkle's solutions enable our clients to better communicate to their customer and prospects across a number of marketing channels and media.  Development Tech Leads will be immersed in the development and maintenance of marketing database solutions to meet client business objectives. You will have an opportunity to work with a cross-disciplinary team across various divisions of the Marketing Technology group.

Responsibilities:

  •  Data warehouse architecture and ETL design
  •  Build and maintain SQL procedures and ETL processes
  •  Manage and mentor a team of developers in a matrix organization
  •  Design and implement technical vision for client project
  •  Own overall project architecture and technical delivery of solution
  •  Interact with client on regular basis
  •  Assist in requirements gathering and data analysis as needed
  •  Estimate work effort and assist the Project Manager with task planning and   LOE (level of effort) estimates
  •  Provide technical leadership and oversight of a project development team 
  •  Review work product of others for compliance with development standards
  •  Provide guidance and mentoring in database marketing development best practices
  •  Write technical documentation
  •  Deliver medium scale data integration solutions on time and on budget
  •  Interact with clients
  •  Effectively hand off work to developer level resources in the US and offshore
  •  Manage and grow other designers and developers in a matrix organization
  •  Grow client relationships through high quality work
  •  Understand core Merkle marketing technology platforms

Relationships:

The position interacts regularly with a wide range of internal Merkle teams (including Quality Assurance, Campaign Management, Business Intelligence, Information Technology, Developers, Project Managers) to support the development and/or ongoing maintenance of the solution.

Qualifications

  • 4-6+ years' experience with ETL tools such as Talend, Informatica or SSIS 
  • 4-6+ years' experience with Microsoft SQL Server and database programming
  •  2+ years' experience as a team lead
  • Exceptional understanding of ETL concepts, processes, and tools - Talend, Informatica, or SSIS
  • Significant experience designing and implementing large databases and data warehouses utilizing both relational and dimensional design concepts
  • Strong understanding of file management concepts, processes, and tools - sFTP, PGP Encryption
  • Strong understanding of scheduling/automation concepts, processes, and tools
  • Strong Knowledge of software engineering and development methodologies, techniques, and tools, including SVN, Issue Tracking (Jira), and Software Development Lifecycle (waterfall, agile)
  • Strong understanding of common IT offerings - ex: Operating systems, storage, backups
  • Knowledge of programing and/or scripting language such as: Python, Java, Bash, Perl
  • Understanding of cloud technologies and/or big data platforms - AWS, GCP, Azure, Hadoop
