Job Purpose
BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as an Associate Software Development Engineer.
The Associate Software Development Engineer will work part-time in our Shop Floor Systems team to support the modernization of legacy VB6 applications by converting them into C# applications. This role requires someone who is not only technically capable but also demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Development:
- Convert legacy VB6 applications using AI technology into C# applications.
- Debug and deploy converted applications across manufacturing environment.
- Adhere to development standards and processes for consistency.
- Documentation:
- Document all code and functional processes.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with application leads to understand the functionality of in scope applications.
- Support local engineers and technicians as it relates to validation of converted applications.
- Cross Training:
- Conduct training on code conversion topics and best practices and troubleshooting techniques.
- Teamwork:
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Work harmoniously as part of a team.
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, electrical engineering or other related degree
- 1+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
- 1+ years’ experience in database development activities with database servers like Microsoft SQL Server, Access, Postgres, MySQL
- 2+ years’ experience with one or more development languages: Python, C#, VB6
- Working knowledge of Windows Server
- Attention to detail and ability to quickly learn new technologies and tools
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills (oral and written)
- Fluent in English, written and verbal
