Onsite This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Rochester, New York on a full-time basis.

The Role: Manufacturing Quality Engineer, able to work autonomously with occasional guidance from supervision. Skilled in Product and Process Problem Solving and active in continuous improvement related to Safety, Quality, and Innovation. Work is performed in a supporting and encouraging environment located in a manufacturing facility where creativity and initiative are encouraged.

We are seeking a bright, hardworking candidate interested in working in a fast paced, high-tech manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical abilities and interpersonal skills allowing them to achieve in a strong, supportive, team environment.

As a member of the Quality Engineering Team, you will directly support a highly automated, three-shift manufacturing operation.  Central focus regarding Quality for Global Propulsion System (GPS) across the entire development process, through manufacturing and into the field.  This role works closely with Manufacturing, Process, Product as well as Mechanical and Controls Engineering to assure manufacture of quality products.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop engineering solutions that result in Continuous Improvement in the areas of Safety, Uptime, and Quality

  • Use data to identify process conditions and develop solutions

  • Early issue identification, problem-solving, and corrective action tracking and resolution

  • Summarize and evaluate reject and defect data to drive continuous improvement

  • Provide statistical analysis of manufacturing process data

  • Critical role in change management to assure no effect on product quality

  • Verify compliance to quality requirements and procedures

  • Communication and coordinate information to and from internal and external customers

  • Collaborate cross functionally to develop creative solutions

  • Remain flexible and at times work extended and non-core hours to ensure issues are worked to resolution

  • Support corporate and local Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) goals related to Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment

Your Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field(s).

  • Experience working in manufacturing environment(s)

  • Experience with Quality System (PPAP, AIAG, APQP, OR equivalent systems)

  • Ability to understand and assess complex Engineering issues

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, MS Office Suite

  • Familiar with Minitab or other statistical software (QDAS highly preferred!)

  • Knowledge of common problem-solving methodologies (Six-Sigma, RedX, Shainin, 5-Why, Fishbone, PDCA)

  • Ability to multi-task, support several projects and assign priority appropriately

  • Strong organizational skills – managing information from multiple locations and sources

  • Ability to work both independently and within teams

  • Experience and examples of problem-solving projects
  • Problem Solving Certification/Lean Six Sigma Belt Certification
  • Understanding of ISO/IATF quality requirements
  • SQL/database knowledge
  • 2+ years experience working in manufacturing environment(s)
  • Entry-level understanding and proficiency in 3D CAD environments (Solidworks)

Compensation:

  • The expected base compensation for this role is: $68,900.00 - $105,700.00. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary base
