Job Description
This role will be focused on programming for the USA, SYFY and Universal Kids, helping to publish schedules for original series, theatrical movies, acquired series and posting content to our various digital platforms, including our apps, websites, and cable set-top-box video on demand services. This individual will be responsible for tracking programming performance, assisting the team in pivoting content plans, ensuring all programming info is input and maintained in our scheduling system, and brainstorming stunts and creative ideas to drive ratings for both networks. We’re looking for an analytical and creative candidate with a deep passion for television and film who has a background in program scheduling and content strategy to join our highly collaborative and fast-paced team.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the creation of 24-hour linear schedules, including scheduling series and movies in the internal scheduling system
- Complete and distribute schedule changes, often on a tight timeline and with very high attention to detail
- Act as a liaison across departments to keep all parties updated on revisions to each network’s schedule
- Pull and update program ratings tracks to aid the team in strategic decision-making; perform special ratings analysis projects as needed
- Brainstorm ideas for series and movie stunts that drive ratings and attract sponsors; maintain stunt tracking documents
- Maintain movie inventory documents to help ensure that all titles are used strategically and effectively
- Coordinate the shared usage of series across the entire portfolio
- Input and maintain programming information and metadata in the scheduling system, ensuring all details are accurate and entered in a timely manner
- Work the original programming team to collect episodic information for all original series, including air order, episode titles and loglines; input this information in scheduling system
- Assist the team in preparing for the annual upfront schedule release, including building grids and long-term programming roll outs
- Assist in the monthly scheduling process, including scheduling episodes of acquired and original series and distributing schedules throughout the company
- Create and maintain alternate schedules for live programming events
- Manage the process for ensuring all program listings are accurate in digital program guides
- Attend and cover cross-departmental meetings for both networks and provide updates to the department as needed
- Stay abreast of breaking news and events that may impact programming decisions and alert department heads to issues that may impact the air in a timely manner
- Track trends and content across the entertainment industry, including traditional TV, theatrical movie releases, Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, Hulu and any new and emerging streaming services
- Screen series and movies to be scheduled
- Assist in scheduling meetings, preparing materials, taking, and distributing notes
- Help the team utilize new technology platforms efficiently
- Special projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, film studies, or related field
- 2+ years working in programming, scheduling, television, or a related field
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint <
