Job Description
AECOM is seeking an entry-level air quality emissions Air Quality Technician to join our Southern California team in our Orange office. The selected candidate will join AECOM’s EHS + Air practice within the Environment Business Line. The primary emphasis of the group is to support clients with their stack testing needs for a variety of federal, municipal, and private-sector clients.
This position is expected to begin in January 2025.
For this entry-level position, the successful candidate will have demonstrated hands on mechanical training and experience. The successful candidate will also be able to:
- Show aptitude for operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Conduct source testing and emissions sampling
- Review laboratory data
- Prepare test plans and reports
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma
- Due to the nature of work, US citizenship is required.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
- As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review and a substance abuse test.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated experience in maintaining and operating mechanical and electrical equipment period.
- Willingness to perform field work and travel.
- Associate’s Degree in Industrial Technology or related is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in science-related field is preferred.
- Relevant experience that includes environmental testing or analytical laboratory or repair of instrumentation experience is desired.
- Knowledge in the practices required to generate valid scientific data.
- Able to work both independently and in a project team environment.
- Ability to record test data legibly, completely, and accurately.
- Aptitude for operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Ability to recognize hazards and work safely in an industrial setting.
- Show initiative and interest in professional development.
- Possess good written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated source testing experience within South Coast Air Quality Management District.
- Strong focus and attention to detail.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, or hoisting of equipment up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Frequent outdoor work in a variety of seasonal weather conditions.
- Frequent work at elevated heights requiring the use of portable ladders and/or climbing stairs to perform job duties.
Additional Information
- Relocation assistance is not available for this role.
- Candidate will submit to medical surveillance screening upon hire.
- Must be able to travel locally as needed and regionally on occasion. This is a field position with approximately 80% of time spent in the field and 20% in the office or laboratory.
