The Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music at Chapman University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty member at the rank of Instrucor or Artistic Assistant Professor of Violin, starting in August 2025.

The College of Performing Arts brings together the Hall Musco Conservatory of Music, the Department of Dance, and the Department of Theatre. This partnership strengthens each discipline, while positioning the College of Performing Arts as the cultural and aesthetic center of Chapman University. We offer 7 degrees for about 460 majors who benefit from scholarship, creativity, free expression and intellectual curiosity both in the classroom and while performing in some of the hundreds of performances offered annually at one of several performing arts venues on campus. Responsibilities
- Teaching applied violin, chamber music coaching, string pedagogy, or other related courses; help leading auditions and end-of-semester juries.
- Leading recruitment efforts for the violin program both regionally and nationally.
- Maintaining an active performance schedule and contributing to the University's musical community.
- Participating in the governance of the Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music and serving on relevant committees within the University.
- Participating in departmental meetings.
Qualifications
We seek candidates with an extensive and successful background as performers and teachers at the highest national or international level. Our faculty colleague is expected to contribute meaningfully to consistent recruitment and retention efforts. The department seeks a forward-thinking practitioner of the performing arts for the 21st century who will demonstrate a commitment to collaborative work with faculty colleagues.
Requirements
- A terminal degree is required for the rank of Assistant.
- A Master's degree in Violin Performance or equivalent professional experience will be considered for the rank of Instructor.
- A minimum of three years of successful violin teaching at the university level.
- Documented national or international reputation as a performer
- Proven track record of recruitment and program development, with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
