This advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Lowell Correctional Institution.

 

Salary:$ 42,230.24 annually

 

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides guidance and counseling to inmates
  • Develops a specialized alcoholic program providing clinical social services activities for treatment of alcoholics.
  • Works closely with Classification staff to facilitate identification and placement of substance abusing inmates to the appropriate level of substance abuse program services.
  • Handles a selective case load of casework services and participates in staff development and training programs for social workers
  • Interviews inmates, patients, clients, and relatives regarding admission procedures, medical issues, family liaison and activities related to re-entry or release plans.
  • Develops a specialized abused substances program providing clinical social services and activities for the treatment of substance abuse and addiction.
  • Ensures that substance abuse program service and sentencing court recommendations are entered into the database in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Establishes each inmate’s substance abuse clinical record, and maintains required documentation.
  • Coordinates social services and family planning activities for individual inmates including community resources, specialized contracted rehabilitation programs, and other program services of the Department.
  • Provides and documents motivational groups for identified inmates.
  • May also provide direct counseling and rehabilitative services through individual or group sessions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in counseling, social work, psychology, nursing, Rehabilitation, special education, health education, or a related human services field.
