As part of a diverse and hardworking team of systems thinkers within the Engines Business Unit, you will directly support Blue Origin’s success by leading pivotal initiatives that support effective development, test, verification, certification and operations of a diverse portfolio of engine tools that impact a variety of engine programs. Your role will consist of working with key stakeholders within Engines to 1) identify new digital solution opportunities, 2) define the problem, 3) generate and evaluate solutions, 4) developing roadmaps, and 5) supervising the implementation of software solutions supporting our digital engineering transformation. You will work with COTS (e.g., PLM tool, ERP tool, Requirements Management tool, MBSE tools) in-house (e.g., MES, Test Management) software development teams to extend our solution architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Understand user’s needs and behaviors through collaborative research methodologies, interviews, and workshops to identify new opportunities and solutions around the future of safe, reliable, reusable propulsion systems across the product life cycle (e.g., engineering, manufacturing, testing, maintenance)
  • Develop strategies and approaches to that will enable capabilities of the future.  Facilitate the use of software prototyping & experimentation to drive decision-making and measure the impact of the experiences we’re building quantitatively
  • Collaborate closely with cross functional team-members and a broad set of stakeholders (internal and external) from business executives, design and research partners, product owners, and engineer teams through an iterative design process for framing, problem-solving, and synthesis of design problems.
  • Establish, document and improve processes and products specific to propulsion engineering consistent with state-of-the-art processes while maintaining the speed, agility and efficiency of a startup operation. The processes established will support collecting vital compliance data, improve cycle time, user acceptance, and will reduce defects and rework
  • Champion thoughtful, holistic experiences and create clear and concise design strategy for achieving them across emerging and often ambiguous intersections of technology and human experiences
  • Scout and propose cutting-edge technologies in a wide variety of business areas (e.g., engineering, analysis. manufacturing, testing, verification)
  • Develop and communicate tool roadmaps and plans to leadership and stakeholders
  • Evaluate and facilitate commercial software purchases and deployment in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry experience
  • 8+ years track record of building software or digital solutions across all phases of the software product life cycle (e.g., discovery, feature definition, development, testing, rollout)
  • Aerospace industry experience or equivalent in supporting the development of complex systems across the product life cycle (e.g., engineering, manufacturing, testing, maintenance)
  • Demonstrated ability in senior- or lead-level strategy roles, getting results for stakeholders within an agency or product company
  • Strong appreciation for human-centered design and outstanding customer experiences, and experience of collaboration with creative partners
  • Proven track record of developing strategic visions and requirements for experie
