Job Description

Compass Government Solutions is currently hiring a Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist at the Southern Arizona VA Healthcare System (SAVAHCS) to include locations in Tucson, Siera Vista, Green Valley, and Yuma to care for our US Veterans for a rotating, coverage position during periods of vacancies in a 24/7 clinic, to include holidays.

Job Requirements of the Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist:

  • Prepare, assay, and administer radiopharmaceutical doses by injection, inhalation or ingestion as prescribed
  • Interpret request or instructions from Radiologist or medical officers
  • Proficiency in introducing intravenous catheters in patients for administration of radiopharmaceuticals and/or medications
  • Test blood glucose levels in patients.  Respond properly to results that are outside normal range
  • Explains procedures to patient in a manner that will gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension
  • Order and manage radiopharmaceutical doses as required for daily patient studies
  • Obtain pertinent clinical data from the patient, electronic chart, requisition, and interviewing the patient and/or family
  • Analyze procedure images for quality.  Obtain additional images when necessary

 

Qualifications

Qualifications of the Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist:

  • A minimum of two (2) years’ current experience as a Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist in a hospital setting including covering inpatient units, ED and ICU
  • Certificate as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Nuclear Medicine (NM)
  • Registry Number or Certificate to perform as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
  • Current on Continuing Medical Education (CME)/Certified Education Units (CEU)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association
  • National Provider Identifier (NPI) number
