PHIG Coordinator - Public Health Infrastructure - 1

About the role

SUMMARY

This position reports to the Public Health Programs Manager.  This position is responsible for all training starting from creation to conducting training for the Brazos County Health District (BCHD).  Performs a variety of high level administrative and other administrative support services within the BCHD.  Maintains files, grant deliverables, budgets, and any other data/documentation. Provides administrative support to the BCHD Board of Health (BOH) and Brazos Valley Health Coalition.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

1. Conducts various strategies to ensure that all workforce development programs, projects and grant/contract deliverables and stated outcomes are achieved by established deadline(s)

2. Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) Coordinator including strategic planning 5 year plan, educates all district staff include they Brazos County Board of Health members

3. Produces BCHD Bi-Monthly newsletter with input from BCHD staff.

4. Create and provide new hire employee orientation.

5. Coordinates bi-monthly staff meetings and procures guest speakers.

6. Create and maintain a PHIG Development Plan for the health district.

7. Responsible for planning, developing, and conducting training for all areas of the Brazos County Health District;

8. Create/monitor/maintain a tracking system for PHIG  development opportunities for health district staff.

9. Participates in appointed district committees and/or meetings;

10. Aids in preparation of the annual budget and maintains financial records for the department; monitors expenditures; processes payment invoices and purchase orders;

11. Provides administrative support during the BOH bi-monthly meetings with setting up the classroom, sending out BOH packets, and documenting the meeting minutes

12. Attends the monthly Brazos Valley Health Coalition meetings and supports classroom set up and media assistance to the presenters.

13. Performs other duties as assigned to include special tasks involved in responding to an emergency event;

14. Complies with policies and procedures delineated in the current “Employee Handbook and Personnel Policies of Brazos County, Texas”  and department supplements;


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in public health, with a Health Policy and Management or Health Promotion emphasis, community health or health education;

KNOWLEDGE OF 
Basic public health knowledge personnel policies and procedures, and standard office practices

SKILLS/ABILITY TO
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with county employees, representatives of governmental agencies, and the general public; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; operate standard word processing and spreadsheet software; read and interpret standard policies and procedures; and operate standard office equipment; Must have excellent verbal communication skills; previous experience, training, or knowledge about work force development; ability to work independently with minimal supervision; ability to demonstrate flexibility and creativity; strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required; working knowledge of MS office (Word, Excel, Power Point) and basic internet research techniques; Bilingual Skills (English/Spanish)

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and dependable vehicle. Would prefer but, not required can be achieved after hiring: ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800 – FEMA Courses Free online except 300/400 in class only (Free).
