This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

Job Description Summary:

Provides hands-on support to Engineering/Production/Manufacturing by performing activities such as; test, check-out, modification, fabrication, and assembly of electro/mechanical systems. Applications may include electronic circuits, power distribution, life/vehicle critical safety systems and battery systems. Work is performed from schematics, diagrams, written descriptions, layouts, or defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and trouble-shooting functions. Performs operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment. Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions.  Performs work in both Laboratory setting as well as work on manufacturing floor or on vehicle depending on manufacturing needs.

 

Job Description:

This role is part of the New Glenn New Product Introduction (NPI) Lab.  This will support the development and initial builds and production optimization of various New Glenn Avionics assemblies and components
 

As part of a hardworking team of technicians, you will assemble, repair, and evaluate electrical and mechanical assemblies for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of the production, evaluation, and development of Flight-grade Avionics. Work in the New Glenn NPI Lab requires a high level of technical proficiency in work such as soldering, mechanical assembly, and assembly wiring. 

 

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

o   Building different components and assemblies for New Glenn Avionics in all different environments (development, test and flight).

o   Assisting with assembly of new and updated designs by working directly with engineering to determine best practices for assembly and optimizing production.

o   Giving regular input on manufacturing improvement opportunities or build changes leading to more efficient assembly.  

o   Serve both internal and external customers across multiple systems and multiple platforms; each Technician is a valued part of the chain that supports safe human spaceflight. 

o   A focus on safety, collaborative teamwork, and quality allows us to work together to determine the best path forward, balancing speed and safety to create high-quality components that will propel future astronauts and payloads into space for the improvement of mankind.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

o   Familiarity working in an ESD EPA and with tool control/accountability processes.

o   Experience using standard electronics assembly tools, hand soldering and basic electronic test equipment (multimeters and power supplies).

o   Experience with applying torque to fasteners/components.

o   Fabricating, terminating, and repair/testing of wire harnesses.

o   2 or more years’ experience in Aerospace Avionics or related fields.

o   Experience inspecting and certifying work performed to relevant standards and specifications.

o   Attention to detail and passion for space.

o   Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

o   Able to lift 50 lbs.

o   Ability to work a 40-hour work week (4x10’s) with occasional overtime to support launch schedules.
