Systems Architect

Actively contribute to Software Enterprise Architecture initiatives across the company. Responsible for components of the process of Architecture and Technology convergence. Effectively contribute to technology selection and deployment process for most strategic business and technology outcomes, with special emphasis on meeting future requirements. Provide software technical leadership to facilitate innovation in new software-based solutions.

Maintain the enterprise architectural standards for technical system(s) and solution development to ensure the best functionality, possibly including but not limited to security, performance, scalability, extensibility, interoperability, and usability

Provide consultative expertise and leadership to influence GTS in the design, development, and execution of technology initiatives; provide architectural design and planning at or if needed, below the enterprise level, with the use of sketches, models, prototypes, and/or reference models for easy interpretation

Determine how new technology solutions should be built and how technology should be built in order to reside across multiple solutions/projects to maximize efficiency and effectiveness, ultimately resulting in technical design(s) and plan(s) for complex problems to reside across problems or for technical issues existing across the enterprise

Facilitate architectural guidance and advice to ensure all aspects of the development process (technical designs, solutions, planning, implementation) meet architectural guidelines, minimize costs, are built in a speed-to-market manner, align with the future technology strategy, and are adaptable to future technology solutions

Be a technical expert, sought after for technical expertise and guidance for complex and advanced technology content to fulfill alignment between business and technology strategy and to provide optimal technology functioning for the business

Ensure enterprise systems functioning is optimal; review/analyze, and improve on existing systems

Contributor and influencer on new technology platform adoption; seek out and explore new technologies for possible implementation to further improve user experiences, enterprise integration, performance and scalability, and system qualities and development efficiencies

Perform analysis for technical planning and technology formation to align with the needs and strategy of the business, creating comprehensive technology formulation across GTS, including but not limited to cost-benefit analysis, technical components research and comparison

Promote technology reuse throughout the enterprise for best technology functioning, technological interoperability, and support of budget

May conduct proof of concept for technology tools or components

Mitigate risks pertaining to technical plans, possibly through coordination of product development flow or interoperability across the enterprise, etc.

Maintain currency of deep technology knowledge; introduce applicable technology in alignment with goals and for creative solutions

Introduce innovative ideas for technology projects, solutions, or planning while maintaining a low-cost structure

Job Specifications

Typically has the following skills or abilities:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience

Six years of experience in related field

Expertise in enterprise-wide technology and system integration

Excellent technological vision

Read and write current programming languages; excellent knowledge of current development and production cycles/processes

Excellent knowledge of software and systems design patterns and understanding of how and when to apply them

Broad knowledge of the systems across the enterprise

Excellent planning and facilitation skills

Experience leading technology projects; demonstrated ability to collaborate, direct, mentor and train others to optimal outcomes

Strong business process knowledge

Strategic view of where business is headed and how technology may be
leveraged to attain business goals

Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate complex issues using simple concepts adjusted to the audience and their skills

Excellent analytical and conceptual design skills; strong problem-solving skills; excellent creative thinking, developing skills and taking initiative

Requires broad knowledge of current technology developments and trends; demonstrated initiative to research technology

Data Modeling skills
