OVERVIEW

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are currently seeking a full stack Senior Software Engineer to join our Growth Acquisition team. As a senior software engineer, your focus will be on building new product experiences, optimizing current product experiences and building search engine optimization at scale, to bring new customers to Instacart. You will be working closely with engineers, product managers, designers, and other XFN partners. You’ll play an important role in enabling the newest technologies and experiences.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Our mission is to bring customers to Instacart by developing new channels and improving existing channels. We leverage SEO along with our unrivaled selection of products and retailer partners to drive engagement & discovery of Instacart. Acquisition team is a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary team with senior specialists from Product Management, Design, Data Science, Marketing and Engineering–we’re looking to expand our Engineering team!

ABOUT THE JOB

• You will be part of a small team, with a large amount of ownership and autonomy for managing things directly
• You will work closely with Product Managers, other teams, backend engineers, internal and external stakeholders, and own a large part of the process from problem understanding to shipping the solution
• You will ship high quality, scalable and robust solutions with a sense of urgency and accountability
• You will contribute broadly to Instacart’s success by exercising your freedom to suggest and drive organization-wide initiatives
• Our tech stack: We develop our web frontend apps using HTML, JavaScript, React and Ruby on Rails. We use GraphQL, gRPC, REST on the backend that powers our API’s

ABOUT YOU

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• 4+ years of experience in software engineering with 1+ years of work on a Growth product team or SEO
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Software Engineering, Application Development, Computer Science, or similar
• Highly proficient web development skills in HTML, CSS,  Javascript
• Solid understanding of common back-end Web technologies in a production environment
• Solid communicator, comfortable seeking and receiving feedback
• Strong analytical and debugging skills
• Strong sense of ownership working with a large codebase on a multifunctional team while maintaining high engineering standards and bringing consistency to our codebase
• A collaborative mindset to be able to partner with engineers, designers and PM's from multiple teams to co-create impactful solutions

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Expert understanding of Ruby on Rails
• Exposure to front end frameworks including react.js & GraphQL
• Experience with A/B testing and having a data driven mindset
• Deep understanding of SEO best practices and proactive in staying up to date with the latest trends and updates
• Exposure to industry tools like Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and Lighthouse
• Experience measuring, monitoring, and improving Core Web Vitals
