Summary:

As a Market Manager, the Director of Commercial Banking’s primary roles will be to (1) develop and lead a team of Commercial Banking associates to grow the entire region and/or vertical and (2) develop, grow, and manage commercial business relationships in the assigned region and/or vertical, including offering bank products such as deposit products and treasury management services to support a relationship-based approach. This important position involves both the comprehensive management of existing client relationships and solicitation of new business opportunities through targeted prospects as well as leading a team to do the same. In addition to excellent client service, successful Directors of Commercial Banking can critically review, analyze, structure, risk rate, negotiate, and document new loans; develop full relationship plans to attract new business to the Bank; and attract, develop, and retain Commercial Banking talent to ensure future growth and profitability.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Market Manager in the Northwest Arkansas region focused on building a team, developing relationship-based portfolio in the region, and representing the Bank in the community.
- Develops the assigned region and builds a team, facilitating others in becoming the primary relationship manager for clients within portfolio with the goal of deepening the client relationship through diverse contacts. Responsible for ensuring all client contact on portfolio provides excellent client service with a growth mindset. Manages portfolio to sound credit quality, overall portfolio return, client retention, and relationship banking.
- Grows a self-sourced portfolio of commercial loans. Minimum annual targets will vary based on the banker’s specialty (e.g. 1-to-4, CRE, C&I or general) and the team engaged to support the Director, with minimum targets for Directors of Commercial Banking generally ranging from $18MM to $30MM. In addition to growth, Directors of Commercial Banking are responsible for maintaining an existing portfolio while usually relying on other team members to facilitate newly originated loans. Responsible for ensuring that clients’ entire banking relationship needs are met by making introductions to our experts in private banking, treasury management, deposit products and other applicable bank products.
- Under the direction of a Chief Commercial Lending Officer, leads and develops a team of Commercial Bankers to ensure each is meeting their individual production and service goals. Attracts, develops and retains Commercial Banking associates to ensure Bank’s strategic goals are met.
- Solicits, analyzes, structures, risk rates, presents for approval, negotiates, and coordinates the documentation of commercial loan requests with assistance from associate commercial bankers, support colleagues, and the credit department.
- Manages pipeline reporting and calling program using Salesforce.
- Understands, embodies, communicates, and instills corporate initiatives and vision, including the six Pillars of Success.
- Maintains client information in complete confidence.
- Completes other specified duties as assigned.
- Regular attendance required, working at the assigned worksite, or assigned remote location during regular business hours and/or assigned hours.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business administration required; MBA or other related graduate degree preferred.
- Proven track record of relationship-based business development with sustained portfolio growth.
- Ten-plus years of related commercial lending or portfolio management experience.
- Seven-plus years of management experience.
- Strong credit analysis skills are required.
- Proficient use of standard computer/software programs including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Salesforce, Power Point, Internet, Moody’s Financial Spreads, etc.
- Must be goal-oriented, self-disciplined, self-motivated, and client-focused with excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to communicate complex data and structural components to a variety of people and work in a team-building environment.
