Job Description

The Mould Repair Apprentice performs machine tool work, welding, brazing or bench work required in making repairs and alterations to molds, blanks, bottom plates or finish equipment.  This position may also include machine tool or bench work on new mold equipment. 

The Mould Repair Apprentice will:

  • Mill welds and repair jigs and fixtures
  • Make changes in design or capacity of the molds
  • Be expected to complete the 4-year apprentice program, which includes on-the-job training and classroom instruction
  • Be interviewed by the Apprenticeship Committee of the United Steel Workers, Local 64

The Mould Repair Apprentice should have:

  • Shift: Monday – Friday
  • Hours: 6:00 am – 2:30 pm
  • Previous experience in machine lathe and mill, reading blueprints and drawings, precision measuring devices and bench repair and welding.
  • A desire to learn and grow into the Journeyman position 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have completed at least 1 year of trade school or have 1-2 years of job shop experience in lieu of school
  • Must be able to pass the Bennett Mechanical Comprehension Test
  • Must be able to work overtime, including weekends on occasion
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis
