Senior Specialist, Downstream Rotating Equipment

About this opportunity:

Join Cenovus Energy as a Downstream Rotating Equipment subject matter expert, recognized for deep technical expertise in pumps, compressors, turbines, and motors. You’ll provide leadership in rotating equipment reliability and mechanical integrity programs across our downstream operations, ensuring compliance, performance, and safety. This role is key in shaping corporate standards, supporting operations, and representing Cenovus in industry forums. Preference to individuals who currently reside or can relocate to Dublin, OH, or any of the US Cenovus Refineries (Lima, OH; Toledo, OH; Superior, WI).

What you’ll do:

• Develop and maintain standards for rotating equipment design, inspection, and reliability.

• Lead equipment failure analysis, fitness-for-service evaluations, and preventive strategies.

• Support asset teams with troubleshooting, vendor selection, and risk-based mitigation plans.

• Drive performance improvement through collaboration with engineering, operations, and projects.

• Mentor engineering staff and lead rotating equipment training programs.

• Facilitate the Rotating Equipment Community of Practice and represent Cenovus on key industry committees.

Who you are:

• Legally authorized to work in the US

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience

• 20+ years of downstream experience in rotating equipment and reliability

• 10+ years in mechanical integrity programs in refining, petrochemicals, or related sectors

• Strong knowledge of API and ASME standards and proven leadership in technical mentoring
