Description
A Brief OverviewUnder the supervision of a licensed, certified audiologist, provides a continuum of Audiology services that include the identification, diagnosis, prevention, consultation and management/treatment of patients with hearing, communication or vestibular impairments. Participates in the implementation of the newborn hearing screening and assessment program at UHCMC.
What You Will Do- Patient evaluation, interpretation of findings and treatment plan (55%)
- Management/treatment of hearing loss (25%)
- Documentation of results and treatment plan (10%)
- Equipment use, troubleshooting and maintenance (5%)
- Projects as assigned (5%)
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
Qualifications
Education- Completed 3 years of graduate level course work towards the Clinical Doctorate of Audiology. (Required) and
- Student Extern is actively enrolled in the 4th year of the AuD program. (Required)
- Requires fundamental knowledge and ability to apply the principles and evidence based practices related to Audiology, appropriate to the developmental and/or chronological age of patients on the caseload. (Required) and
- Experience with pediatrics, hearing aids, electrophysiological/evoked potential testing and implant systems (bone and/or cochlear) is desirable (Preferred)
- Fundamental knowledge and ability to apply the principles and evidence based practices related to Audiology, appropriate to the developmental and/or chronological age of patients on the caseload. (Required proficiency)
- Experience with pediatrics, hearing aids, electrophysiological/evoked potential testing and implant systems (bone and/or cochlear). (Preferred proficiency)
- Familiarity with audiometric equipment including audiometers, audiometric booths, VRA systems, immittance bridges, otoacoustic emissions, auditory evoked potentials (ABR/ASSR/ECOG/VEMP), videonystagmography(VNG) and conditioned play audiometry (Required proficiency)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required)
- Completion of national Praxis exam prior to start of 4th year externship. (Required)
