Summary of Job Duties:
The Locksmith is responsible for maintaining the University’s campus-wide lock systems for all buildings to include inspection, installations, operations, and repairs of door hardware and locking systems. This position may also assist concerning issues with locking cabinet doors and file cabinets. All departments depend on the Locksmith to maintain the security of all campus buildings. In addition, because Facilities Management personnel interact with virtually every area of campus life, a pleasant relationship that is supportive of the Facilities Management objective is essential. To accomplish this objective, workers are occasionally required to perform work not related to their specific trade. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Qualifications:
Required Education &/or Experience:
The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma;
Experience and/or training with repair and maintenance of locking devices shop maintenance, inventory, key production, re-keying, core replacement, etc.,
Possess a valid driver’s license and have the ability to drive a vehicle.
Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or license requirements.
Preferred Education &/or Experience:
Vocational locksmith training;
Experience with Keystone, key management software; experience with OnGuard, access control management software;
Experience with Workday;
Experience working in Facilities Management.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Make recommendations as to the effectiveness and appropriateness of various types of locking devices, including researching new technologies;
Work with the departments and assigned personnel to determine the best access and security needs for entry into buildings, offices, and other assigned areas;
