Assistant Controller - Manufacturing

MGR Accounting Recruiters, a Teamshares Network company, is searching for a Controller for a client in San Antonio.
As the Controller, you will lead and oversee general accounting operations.
Your responsibilities would include month-end close duties, reconciling account balances, maintaining general ledger, record payroll transactions, cash management, review commission calculations and review AP payments. A successful Controller combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. The ideal candidate has also experience collaborating and/or managing an AR Specialist.
Controller duties also include ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all of our accounting tasks and implementation of efficient and effective processes.
Day to Day:Respond and support internal and external inquiriesSupport President and CFO by providing financial data as requestedRecord semi-monthly payroll journal entriesReview commission close-out calculationsPrepare monthly WIP reportLead month-end and year-end close processMaintain reporting by locationPrepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedulePrepare and provide monthly bank reportingAnalyze and present financial informationPrepare and provide required data for for tax returnsLead external review by external CPA firm.Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spendingReview and recommend modifications to accounting systems and proceduresDevelop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controlsEnsure compliance with GAAP principles
Requirements and Skills:Proven experience as senior accountant or controller (8 to 10 years)Thorough knowledge of basic accounting proceduresIn-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Familiarity with financial accounting statementsExperience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close processAdvanced MS Excel skills including VLOOKUP's and pivot tablesAccuracy and attention to detailAptitude for numbers and quantitative skillsBS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevantRelevant certification (e.g. CMA or CPA) will be preferred
