Job Description Summary

The Sr. Supplier Account Manager for New Product Introduction (NPI) is a cross-functional sourcing role which requires strategic vision, delivery of results, and project management skills. Responsibilities include development, communication & execution of NPI strategies to ensure realization of business objectives and on-time supplier performance for assigned commodity.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Drive early Supplier, Engineering, and Product Line engagement into GE’s NPI process to ensure strategic alignment into upstream activities and new technology development.
  • Lead the development & execution of sourcing supplier and commodity NPI strategies to deliver a competitive advantage and drive value to the business. This includes developing RFQ strategies, leading complex technical price negotiations, and recommending supplier selection.
  • Perform detailed cost analysis of product design, development & hardware costs and their impacts to the life-cycle business case.  
  • Evaluate value proposition and life cycle impacts of strategic supplier partnerships.
  • Evaluate supplier readiness including capacity assessments.
  • Own the negotiation of terms and execution of purchase contracts, including contract placement, concurrent product development (CPD) project management, change management through Change Review Board (CRB), and negotiation of contract amendments.  
  • Manage relationships with suppliers for contract execution.
  • Accountable to meet program targets and mitigate cost impacts.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure sourced material and services meet the needs of the program and our customers.
  • Monitor and drive supplier delivery performance to key engineering milestones and required delivery dates for development hardware.
  • Drive improvements in sourcing processes including contract structure to ensure optimal cost productivity, fulfillment, and life-cycle management.
  • May lead functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity.
  • Present business solutions to leaders in functional area.
  • Communicate complex messages and negotiate internally with others to adopt a different point of view. Influence peers to take action and may negotiate with external partners, vendors, or customers.
  • Lead others to find creative solutions to address complex problems that may impact the organization.
  • Evaluate the quality of information received and question conflicting data for analysis.
  • Use multiple internal and external resources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in Sourcing, Materials & Planning, or relevant Supply Chain roles)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Sourcing, Materials & Planning, or relevant Supply Chain roles
