Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

The Senior Financial Analyst on the News Group finance team will be responsible for consolidated News Group financial analysis and reporting. This includes pacing, budgeting and long-range forecasting, partnering with finance teams across all News Group brands (NBC News, TODAY, Local Stations, Telemundo, and the RSNs) to build a consolidated story. This role will report to the Senior Manager, News Group FP&A. 

This role also supports the broader News Group FP&A and finance organization on group wide ad-hoc projects as needed across all brands.

Responsibilities

  • Support News Group FP&A team for all revenue, cost, and EBITDA analysis at a News Group level (News, Local, and Telemundo) for reporting to both NBC corporate and Chief Business Officer, News Group and Chairman, News Group
  • Partner with the News Group FP&A team to drive the creation of financial presentations to internal News Group senior leadership as well as the NBCU corporate team, including Op Reviews to both NBCU CEO and CFO
  • Assist in reporting across News Group business units as well as strategy around best use of new systems (S4/Code Block/FP&A Reporting/SAC)
  • Partner with News Group FP&A leadership to drive the Long Range Plan/Estimate and Budget processes, collaborating with finance teams across News Group to build consistent revenue/cost views
  • Act as critical partner to News Group finance leadership for financial and strategic storytelling.
  • Assign and execute on other ad hoc requests assigned by the News Group FP&A Leadership, CFO and Chief Business Officer

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional experience in finance, preferably in media / production.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, related field, or equivalent work experience
  • The ability to present recommendations and analyses in a clear and concise manner
  • Advanced skill in Excel/Powerpoint
  • Experience in SAP systems (AOE, BPC, S4, SAC etc)

  • Significant finance and accounting skills, including experience in Financial Planning and Analysis
  • Must demonstrate integrity, excellent judgment and business acumen, providing thoughtful strategic insights to senior leadership that translate into successful business strategies
  • Proven execution focus with the ability to multi-task and lead wide ranging business initiatives
  • Excellent writing and verbal presentation skills and strong project management skills
  • Must have a flexible, creative approach to the business and ability to modify their experience and knowledge base and adapt to the organization
  • Persuasive communicator with a vision, a proven ability to self-motivate who can work independently as well as collaboratively, and effectively deal with strong personalities and points of view
  • Passionate about the News, Media, and Entertainment industry
