Salary Range: $91,520 – $99,840 annually

Western Slope Healthcare Center is seeking a passionate and experienced Director of Staff Development (DSD) to join our leadership team. If you're an RN or LVN who enjoys mentoring others, building strong clinical teams, and improving the quality of resident care through education, we'd love to meet you.
As our Director of Staff Development, you'll play a vital role in developing our caregivers through orientation, education, competency training, and regulatory compliance. Working closely with the Director of Nursing and Administrator, you'll help create a culture of continuous learning while ensuring our team delivers exceptional resident-centered care.

What You'll Do
Staff Education & Development
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate new employee orientation.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs for all facility staff.
- Create annual education plans and monthly in-service calendars.
- Conduct competency assessments and skills validation.
- Maintain education records to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training programs, when applicable.
- Identify educational needs through surveys, audits, observations, employee evaluations, and leadership recommendations.
Clinical Leadership
- Make regular clinical rounds and observe resident care.
- Provide direct resident care as needed.
- Coordinate and monitor the Infection Prevention and Control surveillance program.
- Promote clinical excellence through ongoing coaching and mentorship.
- Assist with employee performance management and disciplinary processes.
- Foster teamwork, accountability, and professional growth throughout the facility.
Regulatory Compliance
- Coordinate and document required Fire, Internal Disaster, and External Mass Casualty drills.
- Prepare required documentation for state and federal agencies.
- Participate in state surveys and regulatory inspections.
- Ensure all education and training programs meet CMS, California Department of Public Health, and facility requirements.
- Maintain employee and resident confidentiality at all times.
Leadership Support
- Assist with recruitment and onboarding of new employees.
- Coordinate employment documentation.
- Support payroll and employee benefit processes.
- Partner with the Director of Nursing and Administrator to achieve quality care goals.
- Help maintain a positive, engaged, and collaborative workplace culture.
Qualifications
Required
- Current California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Current CPR Certification.
- Minimum one (1) year of direct patient care experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing setting.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing education or staff development programs.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and teaching skills.
Preferred
- BSN preferred.
- Two (2) or more years of leadership experience in skilled nursing or long-term care.
- Experience with PointClickCare (PCC).
- Experience coordinating regulatory compliance and survey readiness.
