Veterinary Technician Assistant Bay State Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Services (BSVESS) is looking for a motivated and compassionate Veterinary Technician Assistant to join our growing team!This entry-level position is perfect for individuals exploring a career in veterinary medicine—whether you’re a pre-vet or vet tech student, interested in veterinary nursing, or simply passionate about helping animals. Our program is designed to introduce you to the hospital environment while providing the skills and training needed to grow into more advanced roles.At BSVESS, we offer a structured career development path for team members who demonstrate initiative, reliability, and a commitment to learning. Our five-level assistant training system builds both skills and responsibilities as you advance. In addition, our partnership with Ocean State Veterinary Specialists provides access to our in-house technician training program, opening doors to careers in ICU, ER, and specialty services.All positions require regular weekend and holiday rotations. Full-time roles include a comprehensive benefits package.Key Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service to clients in a professional and timely manner
- Process laboratory samples from ICU and ER patients
- Assist technicians with patient care, including monitoring and recording vital signs
- Support technicians and veterinarians with radiographs and treatments
- Safely handle patients for examinations, diagnostics, and procedures
- Prepare treatment areas for emergency procedures
- Participate in structured learning and advancement opportunities through our level-based assistant program
- Become eligible for our Tech Assistant to Technician In-House Program after completing all levels
- High school diploma or GED required
- Previous veterinary experience (assistant, receptionist, etc.) preferred but not required
- Professional, positive, and reliable communicator with strong teamwork skills
- Ability to follow instructions, multitask, prioritize, and stay confident under pressure
- Basic math skills and familiarity with medical terminology preferred
- Eagerness to learn new veterinary skills is a plus
