Job Description

The Scripps Gerontology Center seeks a full-time Director of Professional Education and Consulting Services to develop a strategic, comprehensive professional education and technical assistance plan. This individual collaborates with the Executive Director of the Scripps Gerontology Center and is responsible for leading the identification and development of professional education in addition to a technical assistance service for the Center. Scripps has expertise in applied research with findings that are of interest to: providers of long-term services and supports; academic researchers; prospective students and Gerontology program alumni; legislators and policy-makers; older adults and their families; and the general public. The Scripps Gerontology Center recently celebrated its 100th year; its mission is “to do work that makes a positive difference in the lives of aging individuals, their families and communities, and to meet the needs of aging societies.”

We seek an individual who can manage the continuing education process for a variety of professions that work in long-term services and supports (LTSS), such as nursing homes, assisted living communities, adult day health, and home care. Examples of the professions for which we seek to create educational content include: nursing, social work, activities professionals, and nursing home administrators. The individual would collaborate with researchers to support the dissemination of findings through the Scripps learning management system (e.g., badges, micro-credentials, webinars, certificates). The successful applicant will explore the State of Ohio’s TechCred Program to see if corporate partners could be reimbursed for employees who complete educational offerings. In addition, the successful applicant will engage with Certified Nursing Assistant or State Tested Nursing Assistant training programs to explore partnerships/licensing of educational materials. The successful applicant will need to translate research and technical information to a broad client/consumer audience.

The person in this role will also help develop, lead, and implement a consulting service to support individuals, families, communities, and organizations serving aging populations. For example, we seek to provide consulting assistance to LTSS providers interested in implementing our evidence-based practices. In addition, we want to build out our ability to provide consultation to planners, entrepreneurs, and policymakers about the design and delivery of effective services and programs. The successful applicant will be responsible for developing and maintaining an infrastructure to match client needs (e.g., providers, consumers, policymakers) with a Scripps expert and evaluate the outcome. In addition, this individual would lead outreach efforts at national conferences by staffing a Scripps booth at the exhibit hall.
