Job Description:
The Office of the Registrar seeks an Assistant Registrar and provide leadership to the Academic Planning and Progress team. This position is responsible for overseeing the development, configuration, and maintenance of undergraduate academic progress reports (degree audits) and academic plans within the Workday Student system. These tools are critical to student success and institutional compliance, supporting advising, degree completion, athletic and veteran benefit certification, financial aid, and academic planning.
The successful candidate will supervise a team of professional staff, coordinate cross-functional projects, and serve as a liaison to academic units, campus stakeholders and external partners. Responsibilities include managing complex academic configurations, leading the annual editing cycle, ensuring compliance with FERPA and university policies, and contributing to the strategic goals of the Office of the Registrar.
This position requires strong analytical and communication skills, the ability to lead and develop high-producing staff members, and experience working in student academic services. The successful candidates will demonstrate a proven track record of attention to detail while simultaneously not losing sight of the larger goals of the team and the university.
The Office of the Registrar values work life balance and supports University WorkFlex options. The selected candidate will be expected to work during University Commencement Ceremonies each fall and spring semester, which occur outside of posted business hours.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise the Academic Planning and Progress team, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
- Collaborate across the Registrar’s Office and campus units to gather feedback, provide guidance, and align work with strategic goals.
- Manage team budgets, staffing plans, and ensure operations align with university policies and ISU’s Principles of Community.
- Oversee configuration, maintenance, and updates of Academic Progress Reports (APRs) and academic plans in Workday Student.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex APR and academic policy issues; coordinate resolutions with academic units.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to resolve APR-related issues involving records, registration, grading, and curriculum.
- Coordinate annual academic planning cycles, including timelines, communications, and updates to APRs and plans.
- Develop training materials, deliver presentations, and provide support to academic units on APR processes and system functionality.
- Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance academic tools and ensure compliance with academic policies.
- Engage in Workday Student user groups and institutional collaborations to stay current on best practices and system enhancements.
