GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The Medical Scribe is responsible for facilitating patient flow and ensuring an accurate and complete medical record for each patient.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist the provider in navigating the EHR and entering information into the EHR as directed by the provider.
- Respond to various messages as directed by the provider.
- Locate information for review (i.e., previous notes, reports, test results, and laboratory results.
- List all proper diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions as dictated by the provider.
- Transcribe patient orders, including laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications, etc.
- Document any procedures performed by the physician.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate is a pre-med student graduating with an undergrad degree and taking a year gap before starting medical school.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Medical terminology knowledge: 1 year (Preferred)
- Computer skills: 1 year (Preferred)
- Experience working with the public in a healthcare facility setting.
