GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES

The Medical Scribe is responsible for facilitating patient flow and ensuring an accurate and complete medical record for each patient.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist the provider in navigating the EHR and entering information into the EHR as directed by the provider.
  • Respond to various messages as directed by the provider.
  • Locate information for review (i.e., previous notes, reports, test results, and laboratory results.
  • List all proper diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions as dictated by the provider.
  • Transcribe patient orders, including laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications, etc.
  • Document any procedures performed by the physician.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate is a pre-med student graduating with an undergrad degree and taking a year gap before starting medical school.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Medical terminology knowledge: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Computer skills: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Experience working with the public in a healthcare facility setting.
