The Team

The Identity Team at Upstart is integral in securing and enhancing the user experience across our platforms. We focus on developing advanced login experiences that are not only user-friendly but also uphold the highest security and compliance standards. Team addresses the company's mission-critical need to ensure appropriate access to resources across increasingly heterogeneous product services and to meet increasingly rigorous compliance requirements. Team is dedicated to enhancing user trust and security while providing customizable login solutions for our product teams.

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Frontend Developer to lead our efforts in creating innovative login experiences for users on both mobile and web platforms. Your role will involve developing advanced authentication features, including passkeys and step-up authentication, and providing customizable login solutions for our product teams. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring our user authentication is both secure and compliant with the latest standards. Your work will directly impact millions of users' security and ease of access.

Position Location - This role is available in the following locations: Remote, San Mateo, Columbus 

Time Zone Requirements - This team operates on the East/West Coast time zones.

Travel Requirements - This team has regular on-site collaboration sessions. These occur 3 days per Month/Quarter at the San Mateo, Austin, or Columbus office. If you need to travel to make these meetups, Upstart will cover all travel related expenses.

How you’ll make an impact:

• Design and develop sophisticated login and authentication interfaces for mobile and web platforms.
• Create and maintain tools for product teams to tailor the login experience to their specific needs.
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers to ensure the user experience is intuitive, accessible, and visually appealing.
• Contribute to the roadmap for the Identity Platform that aligns with company objectives and industry best practices.
• Build relationships with frontend engineers in product orgs and drive best practices
• Stay abreast of the latest developments in frontend technologies, security, and authentication methods.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to frontend development

 

What we’re looking for: 

• Minimum requirements:
  • 6+ years of professional web development experience, with at least 4+ years of experience working with modern Javascript web frameworks like React, Angular, Vue, Svelte, etc
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Typescript
  • A solid understanding of semantic HTML and CSS3, including layouts, responsive design and accessibility
  • Experience with modern testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, react-testing-library, etc) and Storybook
  • Experience in developing frontend applications for both web and mobile platforms.
    
    
• Preferred qualifications:
  • Prior experience in developing authentication systems and implementing innovative login methods
  • Understanding of UI/UX design principles and best practices.
  • Experience in unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Knowledge of web security practices and authentication protocols
