Air Products has an immediate opening for a Maintenance and Service Technician reporting to the Area Maintenance Manager. The ideal candidate will be located in Northern Indiana, Southern Michigan, or the greater Toledo area.
The Maintenance & Service Technician installs, maintains, and repairs cryogenic liquid, industrial, and process gas supply and delivery systems, including pumping, high‑pressure compression, and gas generation systems. This residence‑based role involves daily travel to customer sites, typically within a 200‑mile radius. Training is provided to support skill and knowledge development in cryogenics and industrial gases.

Responsibilities:
- Service Air Products cryogenic, high‑pressure, and generated gas systems, as well as associated equipment, at customer sites throughout the assigned region
- Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs to ensure safe and reliable system operation
- Occasionally supervise contractors and crane activities in accordance with safety requirements
- Provide after‑hours and/or weekend support as needed, with 24/7 availability
- Travel within the region, including overnight stays as required
- Participate in training activities; increased overnight travel is expected during the first six months of the role
- Apply company‑provided resources, including a laptop, uniforms, company vehicle, gas card, and required tools
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Technical degree preferred (but not required)
- Ability and desire to put safety first; above production, efficiency, speed, external pressure, and profits.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record and valid Driver’s License
- This is a safety-sensitive position
- Proficient with hand and power tools, including drills (hammer and core), saws, wrenches, pliers, ladders, and brazing torches
- Welding or brazing experience preferred but not required
- Strong solving skills with the ability to diagnose, analyze, and repair complex systems
- Knowledge of piping systems, regulators, valves, pumps, and compressors
- Comfortable working on de‑energized circuits up to 480V; able to trace and measure voltage and amperage on instrumentation circuits
- Willingness to learn, understand, and align with company safety policies and maintenance procedures
- Effective communicator; serves as a primary interface between customers and Air Products field, management, sales, and engineering teams
- Self‑starter and fast learner with a desire to grow and take on new challenges
- Able to work independently for extended periods as well as collaboratively with a team
Physical Demands:
Driving, climbing, lifting, carrying, pushing, bending, crawling, and using hand tools; outdoor work in all-weather year-round.
Military experience as a Machinist’s Mate, Electrician’s Mate, Electronics Technician, Aircraft Maintenance Technician, or Cryogenic Technician is well suited for this role.
Technical school graduates with experience in process or electrical technology, industrial systems, electrical power and controls, electromechanical technology, or HVAC are also a strong fit. Related experience in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical work, welding, construction, vehicle or small‑engine repair, fabrication, crane and rigging, fuel industry operations, or general maintenance aligns well with this position.
