About the role
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for operating nuclear medicine equipment and administrating radioisotope injections to patients to produce high-quality diagnostic scans.
Other duties include:
- Maintain and operate cameras that detect and map radioactive drugs in a patient's body to create diagnostic images.
- Practice and implement radiation safety policies and procedures for ordering, preparing, administering, and disposing of radiopharmaceuticals according to established protocols.
- Competently performs venipuncture and placement of peripheral IV catheters for medication administration.
- Ensure prompt submission of high-quality images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers, and patient data/history).
- Understands and implements ALARA measures while maintaining accurate records of pharmaceutical doses.
- Ensure equipment is properly functioning. Report potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel. Uses lock/tag-out equipment when appropriate.
- Position patients and select anatomic and technical factors accurately.
- Maintain, develop, and implement protocols for new and revised procedures.
- Keep and maintain documentation required for the state license.
- Responsible for keeping current Nuclear Medicine skills and new developments in the field of nuclear medicine.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly department.
- Nuclear Medicine Technologists are expected to undergo cross-training in CT, and training will be provided to team members within their first year of hire.
Requirements: Graduate of an accredited program in Nuclear Medicine.
Credential/License Required: Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist; BLS certified.
Shifts: Working Casual call, meaning you work as needed.
