The Director – Platform Reliability Engineering, Corporate Systems will lead a team that will work with application teams, infrastructure teams, and cross functional teams to continuously improve the stability, reliability and efficiency of Systems and Platforms.

We are looking for a candidate who is ready for the Fastlane, eager to lead, learn and contribute, willing to work and grow in one of the banks Premium IT Teams. This job will have you working on strategic initiatives, and implement SRE methodology in a large-scale Hybrid env (AWS/Azure Cloud env, On-Premise Critical systems).

Responsibilities:

  • You are passionate about driving Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) mindset and culture in a fast-paced, challenging environment where you get the opportunity to work with a spectrum of latest tools and technologies to drive forward Systems Resiliency, Reliability and Performance.
  • Build and maintain Reliable Systems using SRE with special focus on Observability (synthetic monitoring), incident management (auto-remediation), Self Healing that result in reduced MTTR and improved impact prediction.
  • Strategic approach with clear objectives to improve System Availability, Performance Optimization, and improve Incident MTTR.
  • Help Identifying areas of improvement, especially when it comes to Observability, Proactiveness, Automation & Toil Management.
  • As a leader of this team, you possess the ability to direct, inspire and motivate employees to think outside of the box to raise the bar, both to achieve business goals and reach their full professional potential.
  • You are actively looking to improve implemented solutions, understand the efficacy of collaboration, work with cross functional teams to build and improve End to End Observability and automation (reduce Toil).
  • Contribute to management of Service Level Objectives with Application teams.
  • Strong reporting, presentation skills and executive communication.
  • Effective people management, coaching, mentoring and developing new leaders (technical and people future leaders).
  • Strong Ownership of platforms, projects, initiatives with excellent customer service / care.
  • Strong financial management that leads to cost avoidance, and help meeting efficiency targets.

Qualifications:

  • Decisive, energetic, focused team player who builds and leads high-performing teams and foster a culture of diversity, inclusion, recognition and growth.
  • Proven experience managing large technology platforms of large scale and complexity.
  • Strong analytical mindset and good communication skills.
  • Exceptional Problem Solving skills, Knowledge Management and effective communicator that can speak the language of people, process and technology.
  • Experience with ITSM tools (ServiceNow, a plus) with strong understanding of SRE and service management principles.
  • Drive alignment with, and improvement of, broader Enterprise processes and services.
  • Partner on or lead new tool adoption. Recommend improvements to process.
  • Understand functional aspects and technical behavior of the underlying operating system, development environment, Patching and deployment practices.

$113,900.00 - $211,800.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
