Senior Software Developer - Amazon Robotics , Autonomous Mobility

About the role
The Amazon Robotics Autonomous Mobility software team develops the autonomy software that powers Proteus, Amazon’s first fully autonomous warehouse robot. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our core infrastructure and simulation team. You will be part of an exceptional group of engineers building the platform and architecture for our onboard mapping, perception, motion planning and control software. In addition, you will collaborate with engineers and scientists across the team to develop and enhance our real-time multi-robot simulation capabilities.
Key job responsibilities
Specific areas of focus may include (but are not limited too):
- Enabling our “simulation-first” testing strategy by developing and scaling real-time multi-robot simulation capabilities.
- Optimizing runtime performance of core algorithms by exploiting underlying hardware acceleration capabilities
- Building frameworks to monitor and manage resource utilization on embedded compute platform.
- Integrating new sensors and hardware components into the autonomy software stack
- Building pipelines and tools for packaging, deploying and configuring robotic navigation software and firmware
- Developing software to enable remote diagnostics, recovery and control of autonomous robots
- Building visualization tools for analyzing and debugging robot behavior
- Designing and developing software interfaces to enable hardware testing and manufacturing processes.
About the team
We are a multi-disciplinary team of Applied Scientists and Software Engineers with expertise in Computer Vision, SLAM, motion planning and controls. Our mission is to deliver a robust software solution the utilizes state-of-the-art sensor technologies and algorithms to enable safe and efficient operation of autonomous mobile robots throughout the Amazon fulfillment and transportation network. We take this mission seriously and work hard to achieve it, but we have a lot of fun along the way. After all, what's more fun than building robots?
We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
North Reading, MA, USA
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience developing software for real-time and embedded systems
- Experience with Linux kernel and OS setup and configuration
- Device driver development
- Experience with ROS
- Experience using game engines such as Unity and Unreal, particularly for simulation of sensors and robotic devices
- Experience with NVIDIA JetPack SDK and related technologies
- Experience with Yocto
- GPU development experience
- Experience building and maintaining developer-facing tools
- Experience with AWS services and technologies

Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience developing software for real-time and embedded systems
- Experience with Linux kernel and OS setup and configuration
- Device driver development
- Experience with ROS
- Experience using game engines such as Unity and Unreal, particularly for simulation of sensors and robotic devices
- Experience with NVIDIA JetPack SDK and related technologies
- Experience with Yocto
