Key Responsibilities:
Medication Preparation:
Prepare unit dose medications, outpatient prescriptions, and intravenous admixtures following established protocols.
Assist in the preparation and delivery of pharmaceutical supplies to nursing floors and other departments.
Inventory Management:
Stock, reorder, and maintain pharmacy supplies to ensure adequate inventory levels.
Receive and distribute pharmacy inventory within the facility, coordinating with wholesalers and suppliers.
Maintain accurate inventory records, performing regular audits for medications, supplies, controlled substances, and regulated alcohol.
Technology Utilization:
Implement and maintain pharmaceutical technology, including computer systems, infusion pumps, and dispensing devices.
Utilize pharmacy software programs for all inventory transactions and documentation.
Support Services:
Assist with mail-out orders and replenish nursing floor stock as needed.
Collaborate with pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless operations and communication.
Compliance and Documentation:
Follow established policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Document all transactions and activities accurately to maintain comprehensive records.
Minimum Education and/or Training:
- High school diploma/GED is required.
- Graduate of a certified pharmacy technician training program is preferred.
- Minimum Experience:
- Six (6) years of pharmacy experience is preferred with a high school/GED.
- Two (2) years of pharmacy experience is required for a graduate of a certified pharmacy technician training program.
- Hospital pharmacy experience with parenteral and unit dose medication preparation preferred. Experience with office computer software applications is preferred.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by Law:
(LC: PHRMTCH-TN) Registration of Pharmacy Technician License with the State of Tennessee required. Registration must be renewed every 2 (two) years
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only:
- (LC: PTCB-PTECH) Pharmacy Technician Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required.
Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
