Description
The Family Conservancy is currently seeking a full time MSW - Intern in our Kansas City, KS Clinical office location.
As an intern you will provide high quality social work case management services to English and Spanish speaking victims of crime guided by agency policies and programs. The position utilizes the Strengths model of case management, and requires proficiency in Spanish and cultural-competence.
The student intern will work under the supervision of a staff member who meets the educational and work-related qualifications required by their sponsoring University. The student intern will be provided with her/his/their own working space with all supplies and equipment needed to complete specific job functions, including access to client files and electronic communications. Specific tasks will be defined by the student and assigned practicum instructor, with direction provided by the sponsoring University's educational expectations and learning objectives.
Requirements
- Provide case management services to clients in Kansas and, potentially, Missouri. As funding is available, provide case management services to other clients receiving counseling at TFC through grant funding.
- Supports individuals and families by addressing barriers to the client’s overall health and success, also known as Social Determinants of Health. These could include transportation, connecting to community resources, advocacy with legal or medical resources, application for Crime Victims Compensation, interpreting/translation, or assistance with filing orders of protection.
- Distributes materials, makes contacts within the community, and participates in community meetings, as assigned; to develop awareness of agency services and increase service numbers by engaging consumers and potential consumers
- Contributes to participant success by providing information and referral services to consumers seeking assistance outside of the scope of services provided by The Family Conservancy, as requested
- Develop and execute client specific service plans in concert with clients
- Timely documentation of services provided
- Works with interpreters to provide quality service provision to individuals that neither speak English or Spanish
- Participates in on-going program development, performing assigned tasks to either create or maintain program services including participating in utilization review and other meetings as appropriate
- Functions as a participating member of the program team, maintaining effective relationships both with team members and community partners
- Effectively utilize agency technology to accomplish tasks. (Microsoft Office Suite; Google Mail, Calendar & Drive; program specific software; printers/scanners/fax/phone)
- Participates in weekly supervision meetings including problem solving with supervisor and other team members to support effective client services
- Demonstrates Bilingual fluency in written and oral Spanish/English which permits linguistic, cultural interpretation services and advocacy for consumers
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Bilingual fluency in written and spoken English/Spanish required
- Possess ability to work with families in a supportive manner throughout assessment and referral processes
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic, sound judgment, diplomacy and tact.
- Collaborate with a diverse group of individuals, staff and community partners; serve as a positive role model and team player.
- Travel throughout the facility, metropolitan area and counties within the service delivery area is required
- Able to serve clients from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds in their home or community setting.
