Job Description
The Manuals, are one of the world’s most widely used medical information resources. The Manuals have committed to making the best current medical information accessible to 3 billion health care professionals and patients on every continent through our websites and our native mobile apps. To accomplish this goal, the manuals are regularly translated and published in 15 languages.
The Web Data Specialist is responsible for the day to day content preparation, delivery, processing, troubleshooting and publishing to all digital versions of The Manuals, including websites and apps, in all languages.
The specialist is the primary steward of the content management system (CMS) maintaining The company's Manual content in proper XML structure and format as well as supporting the editorial staff and contributors in all aspects of using the (CMS)( content management system authoring system.
The specialist processes translation cycles in all languages, working with the Sr. Specialist, Project/Program Management to follow the translations calendar ensuring the timely export, import, troubleshooting and publishing of each language and version.
The specialist helps implement the digital strategy for The Manuals by regularly creating and publishing enhanced content and featured articles to The Manuals home pages on the web publishing system and serving as the primary resource for configuring the publishing system and supporting its users.
The specialist works with the quality assurance testing specialist and external vendors to review all features in the digital products and maintains the team ticketing system routing issues to appropriate developers and following up as needed.
PRIMARY ACTIVITIES:
Program HTML and Javascript to configure user-customizable website pages in the Sitecore platform such as microsites, promotional material, navigation elements, and featured content.
Audit, correct data, and process 100+ translation publishing cycles annually in XML component-based content management system (CCMS)
Regularly export targeted XML content from the CCMS to all necessary partners, including foreign translators and publishers, typesetters and printers and other licensing partners.
Record and submit issue tickets that require the CCMS and Sitecore developers to resolve more complex problems.
Create or modify graphics and videos using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Premier.
Perform user acceptance and regression testing of the websites and native mobile apps in all languages as needed to ensure that content is displaying completely and correctly and that all features are functioning properly
Support and troubleshoot the technical needs of the staff or the global authors that use our XML authoring system.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field from an accredited college or university
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
At least 2 years experience in computing field or information management,
Demonstrated understanding of markup and scripting languages (such as HTML, JSON, XML, XSL, JavaScript)
Foundational understanding of databases, content management systems, and querying languages such as SQL
Strong proficiency in MS Office tools and various web browsers
Adequate understanding of Workflow and Software Development Lifecycle
Trustworthy, motivated, innovative, efficient and able to work independently.
The candidate must have an adequate home office setup because onsite presence in Upper Gwynedd (North Wales) PA will be only 3 days per week.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Experience working in a component-based content management system
Experience or certification working in the Sitecore web publishing platform.
Experience in multimedia editing with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Premiere or similar
Multilingual (with reading proficiency in one or more of the following: Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Ukrainian, Arabic, French, German, Italian, Vietnamese, Hindi, Swahili or Portuguese.)
