The Data Governance and Strategy Consultant is a catalyst and driver of Enterprise Data Strategies and Governance across the world’s leading organizations.  The consultant will partner with senior management, governance leaders and domain owners to strategize, plan, and execute data management initiatives and sustaining processes.  Each engagement will be informed by a deep understanding of the value of high-quality data – as evidenced in improved business process execution and other functional value drivers. The primary measure of success for the Data Governance and Strategy Consultant is sustainable data quality and processes for enterprise data at our client organizations – which include some of the largest and most complex organizations in the world.

 

Key Responsibilities 

• Authors, explains, and establishes data management methodologies at client organizations right fit for that organizations maturity and capability.
• Conceives, develops and evangelizes data strategies that improve data management maturity at client organizations in support of tangible business outcomes.
• Establishes and coordinates methodologies for managing enterprise data standards.
• Assists client teams with defining criteria for data quality and data metrics.
• Coordinates and makes operational new data management processes and policies.
• Recommends adjustments to data policies and procedures as necessary to improve key business value drivers (e.g. improved working capital, reduced inventory).
• Develops standard data valuation methods for use across client data domains.
• Leads definition, approval, publication and maintenance of the enterprise data policies aligned to corporate strategies, policies and procedures.
• Defines, leads, and supports the execution of the enterprise data quality programs at client organizations from business case to value realization.
• Supports the resolution of data management issues that span systems and domains.
• Facilitates role mapping from client teams including data stewards and executive trustees.
• Trains executive data trustees and orchestrates coordination between the trustees for cross-domain standards, metrics, and issues.
• Works with client IT teams to ensure the alignment of the IT support systems to enterprise business data objectives and requirements.

 

Professional Skills & Abilities 

• Excellent history of data management success including data strategy, data quality, data migration, data governance.
• Proven consulting ability and proven leadership skills overseeing cross-functional teams at all organizational levels from executive to operational.
• Experience with one or more global business transformation initiatives.
• Proven ability to successfully navigate complex global organizations across business units, functional silos, and geographies.
• Successful completion of at least one global data program.
• Proficient in data modeling and fundamentals of database technology.
• Proficient in data transformation and interface technology processes and concepts.
• Impeccable communication and facilitation skills.
• 10-15+ years of experience in job specific skills.
