Description

Marcus Autism Center, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Hughes Spalding, and Emory University School of Medicine are conducting a search for an outstanding developmental pediatrician with specialization in the field of autism and related developmental disabilities to provide clinical care, research support and clinical training at two locations in Atlanta, Georgia. Marcus Autism Center is one of the largest and most comprehensive centers of clinical care for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders in the country, with over 5,000 unique children and families served every year in a wide range of assessment and treatment programs. It is part of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, one of the largest systems of pediatric healthcare in the country.  Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Hughes Spalding is owned by Grady Health System and managed by HSOC Inc., an affiliate of Children’s.  In addition to Emergency and Inpatient services, Hughes Spalding houses a primary care clinic and multiple specialty clinics including Autism and Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics.  It also serves as the primary training site for pediatric residents at Emory School of Medicine.

Our Developmental Pediatrician will focus on providing clinical care at both locations but will also have opportunities to support research and to provide supervision of allied clinicians and clinical training for students. As part of an interdisciplinary team, this provider contributes to medical and developmental evaluations as well as follow-up care on an outpatient basis. This provider will also supervise medical support personnel and assume basic administrative oversight of both clinical areas. The Center and Hughes Spalding value excellence in patient-centered care and will be looking for a person who is successful in effectively communicating with patients, families, and colleagues. Our emphasis on providing empirically supported assessments and interventions rests upon a fundamental commitment to provide the best care for the greatest number of patients possible, and thus we take seriously the responsible stewardship of time and resources. Clinicians enjoy the opportunity to learn from interdisciplinary collaboration and to disseminate cutting edge technologies and models of clinical service delivery emerging from the synergies of active translational research in clinical context.

Successful candidates will be well-trained in either neurodevelopmental or developmental-behavioral pediatrics and will have a history of commitment to serving children with autism and their families. The position requires that candidates be license-eligible to practice as a physician in the state of Georgia. Faculty affiliation or appointment in the Emory University Department of Pediatrics is possible, depending on qualifications of the candidate.
