Job Description

SPECIALTY PHARMACY:

Our Pharmacy Department uses a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, where the emphasis is on therapeutic efficacy and safety! We provide comprehensive, clinical and dispensing services in both inpatient and ambulatory care settings through a decentralized satellite pharmacy services model. The department has one of the most robust set of electronic clinical resources in the country and a dynamic medication safety program.Across the Center, we review 1.5 million orders per year and dispense over four million doses of medication annually. The Pharmacy Department has approximately 600 employees with 400 pharmacists servicing patients in 40 pharmacy satellites, including inpatient unit-based satellites in all oncological specialties.MSK provides free, live, onsite, accredited continuing education pharmacy courses to help keep your credentials up to date. The department will also sponsor national and state membership for pharmacy organizations and appropriate off-site informative meetings. We are seeking a Pharmacist Manager to lead our MSK Specialty Team!

 

The Pharmacy Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day activities and Pharmacy Services provided at the site. The Manager will ensure efficient and cost-effective operations, quality service and regulatory compliance. The Manager will also represent the MSK Specialty Pharmacy team as a liaison with other departments and will serve as the Supervising Pharmacist.

 

Role Overview:

  • Management of regulatory and compliance needs of the pharmacy
  • Staff management, recruitment & performance appraisals
  • Supervise new staff training and development
  • Troubleshoot and problem tackle issues independently
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives
  • Inventory control & drug shortage management
  • Multidisciplinary practice committees & QA activities
  • Schedule development & payroll activities

Qualifications:

  • PharmD (or equivalent)
  • NY Pharmacy license (must be active at the time of application)
  • Confirmed experience in Specialty Pharmacy operations (required) and Managerial experience (preferred)
  • Prior work experience in a specialty URAC or ACHC accredited pharmacy is strongly preferred
  • Prior retail pharmacy experience beneficial
  • Epic experience beneficial

 

Core Skills:

  • Able to problem-solve operational, personnel, and patient issues
  • Diligent and willing to adapt to changes in workflow to improve patient care
  • A fast learner who can efficiently and accurately evaluate new information with new non-chemotherapy and chemotherapy agents being approved every few months and new protocols opening frequently
  • Able to make sound decisions, even in the absence of complete information
  • Highly motivated and able to work well with others

  • Hours: Variable, 8a-6p, Mon – Fri, with flexibility as needed.

Pay Range: $146,000 - $241,000 annually
