Patient Financial Services Representative

Description

We are seeking an organized and critical thinking Patient Financial Services Representative to join our team at MCHC. As a Patient Financial Services Representative, you will play a vital role in educating and assisting patients with enrollment into appropriate coverage. You will be responsible for performing many functions critical to the Billing Department and serving as an internal resource for educating other departments about coverage programs.

Primary Duties Include:

• Performs financial screening for patients to determine eligibility to enroll in different insurance coverage programs or when appropriate, to enroll in the Sliding Scale program.
• Provides navigational support to patients in need of insurance coverage, assisting patients with the complicated and onerous application process.
• Conducts payment reminder calls, monitors high balance accounts, and scans applicable documents.
• Educates patients and staff on current coverage options.
• Facilitates payment plans in accordance with organizational guidelines.
• Communicates regularly with front line staff about the criteria for choosing the correct payor codes.
• Reconciles patient accounts via specific grant designation (UCC, Title III, etc) with documentation from various clinic departments.
• Maintains patient Sliding Fee Scale files for complete documentation of records that will comply with the requirements of the annual audit.
• Participates in community outreach events and represents the organization in a professional manner.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School graduate or equivalent
• Two years reception/front office experience

Preferred Qualification:

• Covered California Certified Enrollment Counselor
