The Senior Adult Unit (SAU) provides acute inpatient psych/med care for older adults. Average lenghth of stay is 10 days. This is a voluntary, restraint free unit which is licensed by DPH. It is not considered a mental health unit licensed by DMH.The primary goal of the program is the stabilization of symptoms through interventions of:medical and psychiatric evaluationpharmacologic assessmentpatient and family educationphysical rehabilitationgroup and individual therapynutritional assessmentssupportive case managementThe Senior Adult Unit is an ACE (Acute Care of the Elderly) program which aims to improve clinical outcomes by providing multidisciplinary care in a safe and comfortable environment. The SAU team is trained in the specialized care of the elderly. The unit serves as the hub of Beverly & Addison Gilberts Hospitals (members of Beth Israel Lahey Health) NICHE Exemplar recognized program
