Senior Data Analyst - Payment Transactions

What does a successful Senior Payments Fraud Data Analyst do at Fiserv?

As a Senior Data Analyst within Data Commerce Solutions, you will analyze different payment transactions from an Acquirer, Network and Issuing perspective with the goal of expediting and improving merchant transaction approvals.


What you will do:

  • Analyze payment transactions across multiple data sources, identify patterns for decline transactions and come up with rules for optimum authorization approvals.
  • Analyze 3 to 5 years historic transaction data to identify decline rates based on Issuer, type of transaction, Card type , Card Brand and other key attributes.
  • Support end-to-end analytics projects including requirement development, explorative data analysis, data wrangling, feature engineering, rules and model fitting and deployment
  • Work with several frameworks including Splunk, Spark, DASK, sci-kit learn, Pandas.
  • Assist in the communication of insights and the implementation of solutions across the organization including development of data visualizations, dashboards and the presentation of results to key stakeholders and executives.

What you will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering , Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience as a Data Architect, Data Scientist or in a related role.
  • Experience in a Payments industry with knowledge of card issuing, payment networks and merchant acquiring and understanding of transaction level attributes.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Splunk and a computing language such as Python or R 
  • Working knowledge of data platforms such as Hadoop, Hive, Impala, RDBMS, SQL, Databricks, Snowflake & Azure or NoSQL Databases 
  • Experience working in collaborative team environment with multiple stakeholders including business, product development, architecture, and engineering teams.

What would be great to have:

  • Knowledge of transaction declines at Issuer, Network and/or Association level.
  • Proficiency with statistical data analysis and pattern recognition techniques (e.g., SVM, regression, classification, clustering, time series).
